Lees Ferry Attractions

Until the Navajo Bridge was constructed in 1929, Lees Ferry was the main crossing for the Colorado River. The ferry service was established in 1872 by a Mormon, John D. Lee.

Lees Ferry offers a starting point for adventurous river runners to launch their boats, trout fishing, backpacking, and hiking.

The scenery here is quite spectacular with red cliff walls along the roaring Colorado River.
Lees Ferry Fort
Lees Ferry Fort was built in 1874 to protect against Indian attacks, but was mostly used as a trading post.
Lonely Dell Ranch
The Lonely Dell Ranch was once home to John D. Lee and his many wives. In this historic district is a log cabin thought to have been built by Lee, as well as a ranch house and cemetery. The Lee family operated the Lees Ferry.
Marble Canyon
Marble Canyon is on the Colorado River near Lees Ferry. It is the crossing point used by the ferry, and later by the Navajo Bridge.
Navajo Bridge
Navajo Bridge opened in January 1929, eliminating the need for the dangerous Lees Ferry crossing of the Colorado River in Marble Canyon. An interpretive center features a pedestrian walkway across the bridge.
