Coconino National Forest
Coconino National Forest occupies 1.8 million acres of the land surrounding Flagstaff, south of the Grand Canyon. It is one of six national forests in Arizona, and the largest contiguous ponderosa pine forest in the world, with elevations from 2,600 to 12,633 feet at the top of the San Francisco Peaks. There are ten designated wilderness areas in the forest: Kachina Peaks, Fossil Springs, Kendrick Mountain (which is also part of Kaibab National Forest), Mazatzal (also part of Tonto National Forest), Munds Mountain, Red Rock-Secret Mountain, Strawberry Crater, Sycamore Canyon (also part of Prescott and Kaibab National Forest), West Clear Creek and Wet Beaver.
