Cave Creek Ranger District

The Cave Creek Ranger District is part of the Tonto National Forest. The district consists of over 500,000 ac of Desert, Semi-desert Grassland, Chaparral, and Piñyon-Junipers. The Verde River flows through the whole Cave Creek Ranger District.

Things to See

Bartlett Lake

Bartlett Lake is a reservoir on the Verde River at the foot of the Mazatzal Mountains. Bartlett Lake Recreation Area caters to water-based activities such as water skiing, fishing, jet-skiing and swimming. Hiking and wildlife viewing are other popular activities.

Horseshoe Lake

Horseshoe Lake is upstream from Bartlett Lake and has camping, fishing and boating facilities.
