The 129,800 acre Arrastra Mountain Wilderness area is located in a remote region between Wickenburg and Kingman, near the small mining town of Bagdad. It encompasses portions of the Poachie Range, Artillery Mountains, and the Big Sandy and Santa Maria rivers.

The Burro Creek Recreation Area is a campground set in a desert canyon half way between Kingman and Wickenburg off Highway 93. The area is popular with rock collectors looking for blue and purple agate, and with photographers during the spring wildflower season.
Burro Creek Recreation Area is a restful stopover for travelers who enjoy the deep blue pools and tree-lined banks of Burro Creek.

The 27,440-acre Upper Burro Creek Wilderness area has Burro Creek running through for nine miles within the wilderness area. Upper Burro Creek is located 10 miles northwest of the small mining town of Bagdad. Recreational opportunities available include hiking, backpacking, camping, sightseeing, hunting, rock collecting, and horseback riding.
