Biot - Musée Fernand Léger

Biot has become known especially for its Musée National Fernand Léger, which is reached by taking the Chemin du Val de Pome, a little way out of Biot in the direction of the sea, and then turning left. The museum, established by Léger's widow Nadja in the 1950s, displays all the periods of his works in a most comprehensive fashion. The enormous mosaic on its outside wall was originally intended for the sports stadium in Hanover, Germany, but was found to be too expensive. The portrait of the artist in wire on the staircase is by Alexander Calder.
