Sandy Ground Village has a white-sand beach lined with restaurants, a dive shop and a few low-key places to stay. Its fishhook-shaped bay is one of the most protected on the island and is Anguilla's main port of entry for yachts. The ferry for Sandy Island, 2 mi/3 km offshore, departs from the pier. Sandy Ground is backed by a large salt pond, the northern end of which attracts egrets, stilts, herons and other wading birds.
The Anguilla Regatta is held each spring, usually in May, with races held over the course of three days. Most of the activities on shore take place at Sandy Ground with entertainment at the local restaurants and establishments. The regatta has been growing in size each year.
Recently restored, the three gabled house c 1900, is home to two art galleries, shops and offices. Originally owned by an Anguillian planter and businessman it sold in 1910 to the Methodist Church and the Reverend maintained it as a residence.
The Old Salt Factory and Pump-house is one of Anguilla's historical attractions. Salt was a main industry in Anguilla and one of the country's primary exports until the early 1980s. Visitors can see the site and tour the Old Pump-house.

Surrounded by shallow reefs that offer snorkeling, coral and small tropical fish, Sandy Island, an islet consisting of little more than fine sand and a couple of coconut palms is small enough to walk around in just ten minutes.
Tips: Arrange the five-minute boat ride to the islet at Sandy Ground.
