Anchorage - Alaska Native Heritage Center

 
The Alaska Native Heritage Center explores the cultures of the 11 indigenous groups of Alaska. Visitors can experience Alaska Native dance and discover its cultural relevance, learn about Native games and athletes, and see traditional Native dwellings with knowledgeable guides at to provide details and answer questions. Visitors can also hear stories of Alaska's Native people and learn about Native traditions.

The Center also looks at modern times and some of the changes and challenges which Native People are faced with on a political, environment, and cultural front. The contrast of traditional ways and modern realities can be seen through some of the exhibits.

The Alaska Native Heritage Center offers educational programs created to support all of Alaska's Native cultures. There is also an on site gift shop with unique items for sale.

Tips: Closed to the general public during the winter, and are open for monthly events and Saturdays 10-5.
