Amsterdam - Keizersgracht

The middle one of the three canals does not quite come up to the elegant standards of the Herengracht. The finest houses are to be found between the Westermarkt and Vijzelstraat. This part was also famed in the last century for the "slipper parade" which took place here on Sundays after church when, between 2 and 4 in the afternoon, most of Amsterdam strolled up and down here in their Sunday best in order to see and be seen.
