Amerongen Castle Kasteel

The medieval castle of Amerongen, set in a large park, was destroyed by the French in 1673, and only part of the keep survives. A new castle was built between 1676 and 1681, and the interior was remodeled in the late 19th century by P. J. H. Cuypers. Of particular interest are his ceiling paintings in the Upper Gallery, the Dining Room and the Tapestry Room. The castle was occupied from 1918 to 1920 by the ex-German Emperor Wilhelm II.

Included in the castles collection are a variety of blue Chinese porcelain, portrait, books, wall tapestries and French furniture.

A formal flower garden and woodland can be found on the estate.
