Hammarland and Eckerö
21km/13mi northeast of Mariehamn is the red granite church of Hammarland, which may date from the 12th century. In nearby Eckerö, housed in an old post office (designed by C.L. Engel), is a Postal Museum.

This is a farmstead from early 18th century which is one of the oldest still preserved in Åland.
Hammarland - Åland Fire Brigade Museum
The Åland Fire Brigade Museum displays old fire-engines and fire-fighting equipment including several authentic red engines. There are fire brigades collected by volunteers.
