Engstilgenalp

A narrow road branches off the road to Frutigen (on right, after the second bend), runs south up the Engstligen valley and passes through Boden to the hamlet of Unter dem Berg, at the Lower Engstligen Falls (6km/4mi), from which a cableway takes us up past the Upper Engstligen Falls to the Engstligenalp (1,940 m/6,365ft: Berghaus Bärtschi, 15b. Berghotel Oester, 40b.), a former lake basin at the foot of the Wildstrubel. A bus runs southwest up the Gilbach valley to Geils. Cableway from Geilsmäder (1,707 m/5,601ft) to the Hahnenmoos pass (1,957 m/6,421ft: Berghotel 15b.). Chairlift 1,650 m/5,414ft long from Geils to the Laveygrat (2,200 m/7,218ft) and a chairlift from Geils to Luegli (2,080 m/6,824ft), both operating only in winter. From Hahnenmoos it is a 45-minute descent to the Bühlberg restaurant (1,660 m/5,446ft), from which a road leads down (6km/4mi, with steep bends) to Lenk in the Simmental, or alternatively along the valley by cableway.
