San Esteban del Rey Mission Description
San Esteban del Rey Mission is part of Acoma Pueblo. It was established in 1629, completed in 1641, and with the exception of a few years has been in continuous use ever since. The sand used in construction was carried to the mesa top; the log beams were hand-cut and carried from Mount Taylor, over 30 miles away.
